Description
The tavern is a model of efficient disarray. Not a single piece of
furniture matches another, and all of it is at least three times as heavy and
as sturdy as it would normally need to be. There is no mirror behind the bar,
and the alcohol here is not stored in such flimsy a container as glass, so
easily smashed during a brawl. Heavy built-in booths, huge tables a single man
could not lift, have long curving awkward benches upon which to sit. Further
nicks and scuffs show all of this has weathered many a fight, and survived.
There is a staircase leading up between two full walls, there is no railing
here, leading to an upstairs with no balcony.
The place smells of smoke and cheap booze. They cook food here, and it
is cheap and hot and provides nourishment, though that's about all that could
be said of it. The food smells of smoke and cheap booze too. To stay warm in
the winter, occupants sit near the kitchens. There are few decorations, and
what signs there are either describe the prices for the rotgut and grub.
