Siovale

From Wiki

Siovale runs the border with Aragonia in the southern part of the country. As its founder Shemhazai treasured knowledge, Siovale has a great tradition for learning. Montrève is a small but lovely estate in the mountains of Siovale, which Phèdre inherits from Anafiel Delaunay. The manor has Eisandine touches, such as brilliant gardens, likely the influence of Delaunay's mother.

Geography

Siovale is the southwest province of Terre d'Ange, bordering Kusheth to the north, L'Agnace to the northeast, Eisande to the east and the country of Aragonia to the south and west. Its founder, the angel Shemhazai, treasured knowledge; the province itself has a history steeped in institutional learning. Much of the country's schools, colleges, and universities are run and funded by those from Siovale.

Politics

The province of Siovale has a tumultuous recent history, having passed through the hands of different leaders twice in nearly as many years. Right before the ascension of the Morhban throne, a wayward member of the Shahrizai clan used a combination of subterfuge and legal loophole to assume control of the duchy. After the Royal Vote, one of King Bastien's first decrees contained a clause that would strip the lordling of his claim, restoring the lands to the de Royan family of Shemhazai's descent.

Who among the de Royans would inherit was a matter for some debate, and though it was to Adelaide de Royan that the duchy eventually fell as regent for her son, it was not without some contention. Though the succession in Siovale still seems a matter unsettled, the people and the lands themselves have existed for some years in relative quiet.
