Background

Rainier was the first child born Gerard Monchapetre and his Hellene wife Alana. Baron Monchapetre resided in what could be considered a modest villa, but set upon one of the most beautiful pieces of land in all of Camlach. The land was home to many horses, and the staff employed to care for them was numerous and well skilled. Everything was all that a young noble child could ask for, except for the fact that his father was a well known and respected Cavalry officer in the Terre D’Ange military. Alana would often entertain other nobles of Camlach to the beautiful villa for weeks at a time, trying as she could to lessen the loneliness.

When he was old enough, and against his mother’s wishes, Rainier was mustered into the Military, serving under his very own father who certainly showed the young equestrian no special treatment. If anything he was given a harder time, as his father was looking to groom him for leadership. This absence of her husband and only child was too much for Alana to handle, and she returned home to Hellas, leaving the Villa in the hands of a young woman from Terre D‘Ange who oversaw the villa help. It was this young woman named Dominique who would soon become the mother of Rainier’s two sisters, Emylie and Isabella, both being eighteen and twenty years his younger.

Military Career

Rainier served under his father in a well respected Cavalry division. In no time at all, Rainier had established himself as a leader, and was put in charge of a highly valued scouting contingent. It was this contingent that rode into enemy territory to scout positions and report back, more often then not engaging the enemy and escaping to tell about it. He was living the life of a military man and making quite a name for himself. Years would pass and his father would retire, returning home to Dominique and the Villa and Camlach. Rainier would assume the position in his father's abscence as the Commander of the Cavalry.Rainier would become a very important part of many of the major military actions of Terre D'ange. Scouting, fighting, even assisting with trade routes, his Cavalry was an important part of Terre D'Ange's safety and well being.

Hazaran War

Early on in the prepping for the war, Rainier's cavalry was along Camlach's border. His cavalry was to perform a very important scouting run, a scouting run that would end in disaster, and Rainier blames himself to this day. Theyf rode into the occupied territory, it was raining hard and after coming along the major bulk of the Hazaran forces, they turned back for the border. A washed out road and some flooding made their escape nere impossible and a Hazaran force pursued. What happened next has been recorded as the Borderland Massacre. His horses became trapped and the rain of arrows whistled through the sky upon them, ending with dull *THUDS* and horse whinnies. Only Rainier and a few men escaped back across the border. Rainier was found against a tree by Evangeline no Balm, arrows within his back and shoulder. He was near death and to this day credits the woman with saving his life. The guilt runs deep within him, in hid mind it was his failure to read the land that caused so much unecessary death.

It did not take long, and Rainier was back commanding his Cavalry once more. It is said he was very influential with his men in securing the victory at the Battle of Camlach. Afterall, he was defending his homeland. Now that it is over, he has come to the city. Even this Commander needs a break. What the future holds for him is unsure, but one thing is certain, he will continue to defend Terre D'ange and insure its people sleep easy.

Personality

Off the Battlefield: Rainier is a vary calm and laid back individual, a man whose voice is often classified as soothing and reasurring. Very approachable, but often the one you would find standing on a wall alone at a large gathering, Rainier is more then comfortable not being the center of attention.

On the Battlefield: It has been said by the men he commands, that they would follow him to certain death if he asked them to. His commands are uttered with such an heir of confidence that it seemingly instills courage. He sleeps in the same basic lodgings as his men, eats with them, and is the first one into battle ahead of them. He is highly respected, and it is his approach that he is no better then the next man that has helped foster these beliefs.

Family, Friends, & Enemies

Family

Gerard Monchapetre: Rainier's father, and a Baron of Camlach. Well known Cavalry officer in the Terre D'Ange military. Recently retired and living in Camlach with his wife Dominique.

Alana Monchapetre: A woman from Hellas, and Rainier's mother. She made sure her son was raised knowing the language of Hella and its history. When Rainier went off to join the military, her son and husband being away was to much for her and she returned to Hellas where she is living out her years.

Dominique Renault (Monchapetre): The former head of servants at the Monchapetre Villa. Became involved with Gerard after Alana left to return to Hellas. This occurred when Rainier was 18. She is not much older then Rainier, and is the mother of Rainier's two half sisters; Emylie and Isabella.

Emylie Monchapetre: At fourteen years of age, Emylie has taken the love of horses that her family has embraced for so many years. Very tommboyish, but in the blink of an eye elegant and refined, she is growing into a fine young woman who has no further ambition then assisting with the horses at their Villa; for now.

Isabella Monchapetre: Twelve years old and very attached to her mother. She is the lady of the two, taking her time to learn languages, etiquette and other aspects of education. She is certainly one that is being groomed for the courtly lifestyle, something Emylie has bucked against

Alaina Monchapetre Rainier's cousin, her father Jeret being brothers to Gerard. He does not know much about his cousin, as he seldom has seen her. He does however know of her marriage to a Eiran Tribal Lord, and as far as anyone knows he has no problem with that. Of course, if he is commanded one day to subdue such tribes, one can only imagine the family discord that could arise.
