Description
Entering the stables, you wonder if horses are actually housed here. The hay is fresh, the refuse cleared almost hourly and the winds are fresh as they meander through the open doors. It is as if extra care is taken to maintain this area in the off-chance that someone may suddenly appear. Stable hands are ever present, tending the horses.
Various tack is cleanly organized and hung on brass hooks. Each stall, of which there are six, has a surplus of fresh hay and clean water in the troughs. Barrels of oats are kept on risers, off the moist floorboards and sealed until needed and the dirt floor is raked down, almost like a Japanese garden. Off to the right are wider stalls which fit two carriages. The structure is newly built and well-maintained. An oasis of retreat from the sounds and smells of the marketplace.
