News:NPC Policy

From Wiki

NPCs are a list of quasi-characters. Essentially, a player who is in need of something (usually related to theme) can request to interact with an NPC. In an In-Character sense, your character would be seeking out contacts, sending messengers or letters, or what-have-you in order to set a date to contact the NPC directly. There are a few rules involved when dealing with NPC characters:

  • Do not bother an NPC who is currently in RP with staff-related matters. Multiple staff play the same NPCs and when they are RPing that means they are OFF-DUTY to wiz-related matters unless they say otherwise. In addition, it is NOT alright to ask an NPC which staff member they play or guess who is currently playing them. Privacy is everything.
  • NPCs are about having fun, enhancing the storyline, giving clues and hints, and generally encouraging RP when it's a slow day. They are not about giving favors to PCs or being bias towards anyone in particular. If you have a complaint feel free to @mail *staff or write a bboard post.
  • NPCs should be in the background. They are not features and they are not full characters. The PCs should be doing things like advancing the theme and so forth. NPCs are just there to guide players along without being intrusive.
  • NPCs are above the normal consent-nonconsent rules of the game. They cannot be killed, robbed, hypnotized, pushed off a cliff, or anything whatsover. Don't even bother trying. However, feel free to speculate ICly about NPCs, or cajole, bribe, threaten, etc to your heart's content.
  • If you want to discuss a cetain NPC or suggest a new one (ie. one that might have come up in RP), feel free to post on the bulletin board. That's what it's there for!
