Description
A grey stone exterior gives way to a bright and cheerful interior filled with a riot of colors. Hats of every size, shape, and design are propped here and there on lovely wooden hat-stands. Lovely couture for ladies, and dapper hats for men are available here, as well as sweet little bonnets for children. A long wooden counter runs the length of the small shoppe, and atop it are reams of colorful felts and velvets and scraps of the fabric litter the floor behind the counter.
The long wall behind the workspace is lined with even shelves of white pine, and stacked on the shelves are bobbins of threads in a rainbow of colors. Twines, satins, silks, cords, even strings of beads line the shelving. A large urn at the end of the counter top is filled with bright peacock feathers, and another small porcelain bowl atop the counter is filled with hundreds of smaller feathers. A wooden drying rack holds snippets of felt and brocade, all molded into suitable hat shapes, and the musty scent of drying wool drifts in the air. The far wall is lined with mirrors, and two are tilted out from the wall so a patron may have a full view of the fashion before purchase.
