Royal Army
The Royal army is led by the Royal Commander, usually a position given to a member of the blood or a noble who is within the military. It's not common for such a role to be placed in the hands of a soldier of common or middle class stock.
This is a military force that is the Kings own. Not to be mistaken for the Ducal armies that most of the duchies maintain. They are maintained and housed in Barracks an half days swift ride north of the city walls at a place called Champs-de-Guerre, ready to be called upon when needed. Wide open plains for infantry to drill, in the fertile farmland of L'agnace.
Royal navy
The Royal Navy is lead by the Royal Admiral. Unlike the position of the Royal Commander, this can be garnered by a middle class, or commoner through skill, hard work and loyalty to Crown and not just based upon military history and bloodline. A hardworking sailor in the royal fleet with a trace of angelic blood can reach that position with a bit more elbow grease like someone from the great families and greater traces of said angelic blood.
While the royal navy & fleet tends to be many places throughout the year, in winter they set anchor in the harbor of Marsilikos, their resting spot due to the busy port and it's proximity to the capitol. In times of war, or dire need, they have been known to anchor at the northern harbors of Azzalle and Kusheth but their home port remains still, Marsilikos and is a great pride to Eisande.
Unforgiven
The Unforgiven is a division of the Military answerable only to Kushiel's Chosen, though a part of the Royal Army. Soldiers who feel that they have lost thier honor can ask for transfer to serve this small regement that is stationed on the camlach and Skaldi border. They bear black shields to mark their shame, and do not leave the western border of Camlach. Once a soldier has successfully regained thier honor, at thier choosing, they transfer back to normal service.
The Unforgiven came into being after the battle of Troyes-le-Mont, whereupon discovering the treachery of isidore D'aiglemort, the surviving members of the Allies of Camlach swore an oath that they would hunt down every skaldi who fled and protect the border in eternal penance for their blind following of Isidore, adn teh sins he commited that can never be forgiven.
The unforgiven are lead by a Captain, who in turn manages it seems up to five garrisons spread along the Cameline Range. Roughly 200 members of the unforgiven or so at a time. They are a special unit, mounted as well.
