A History
...of Vanity
Lucrèce Dior is the daughter of a Kusheline baron, counting amongst her siblings an older brother, and a younger one. The only girl, she was doted upon shamelessly from a young age, styled as a proper lady even in her childhood years. No expense was spared with the clothier, who tailored dresses for the girl with incredible speed as she outgrew one to the next in the passing years.
As a result, Lucrèce was instilled with an unsatiable penchant for all things vain, taking incredible interest in fashion and dabbling in the rise and fall of trends, introducing a few of her own, also. She is known for mischief, and her admiration for its pursuit fast earned her friendship with a daughter of the Shahrizai. In their home province of Kusheth, the two were nigh inseperable.
She followed Anne to the city of Elua following the longest winter, when Bastien de Morhban ascended the throne and appointed her friend's father as their new Duc. He sent for his daughter to join him in the city and Lucrèce begged to follow. The girls became ladies in waiting to Queen Athenais, but managed always to find time for frivolities despite their 'duties.'
Spending a year in the city led Lucrèce's father to worry about whether or not his daughter would return - in Kusheth, the man had already begun to consider marriage prospects for her. Each one would prove profitable for the baron, but Lucrèce shirked his efforts and avoided making a match. Instead it was rumored she had bestown her favor upon the recent war hero Laurent du LacNoir, having fervently kept his company before the battle called him away.
...of Camlach
Lucrèce's fall from grace at court can be traced back to when she first met Dominik Norstadt. The ladies at court found him charming, if dangerous, and though he was a terrible gambler, Lucrèce herself thought him to be very amusing. Initially they kept company over games of vingt-et-une, and then the half-Skaldi's friendship turned darker.
What began with requests for the odd favor (the Count enlisted her help in learning to dance) along the line transformed into demands of a more menacing nature. When he invited Lucrèce to visit his estate outside the city of Elua, and she declined, he took matters in hand and would not accept refusal.
So it was that Lucrèce came to travel with Count Norstadt and his men, though it soon became clear that they were not headed for his family estate. Instead, they journeyed to Camlach where Dominik established himself as a vigilante governor of the village of Lorraine.
There they spent the better part of the year, with Lucrèce passed off as the half-Skaldi's purebred D'Angeline wife. She came to witness some of the inner workings of the man's criminal activity, and it wasn't until the threat of the crown's investigations became real enough that Dominik was made to abandon his pursuits and return to Skaldia that Lucrèce was able to steal away and return to the city of Elua.
She immediately offered all of her knowledge to the King and Queen, and though she faced trial for possible criminal involvement, she was not found to have played any real role in what transpired in Lorraine. Lucrèce was exiled from court and released from her services to Her Majesty, and is now residing in the city of Elua until such a time as she is permitted to leave and return to Kusheth.
Societe
Lords & Ladies
Bastien de Morhban - As a Kusheline, Lucrèce is very proud to have a Kusheline King, especially one she adored as a young girl, when he was the Duc of her province. Though her loyalty has never wavered, her role in Dominik's criminality has caused her to lose the crown's favor.
Les Amis
Anne Shahrizai - Anne is Lucrèce's dearest friend, and they were once reknown in Kusheth for being inseperable. As young girls, they terrorized the Kusheline social scene and frequently introduced new trends in fashion that kept the other girls falling over themselves to keep up. Of course, by the time anyone did, they had already moved on to the next. Though they are not nearly as inseperable as they used to be, Lucrèce still considers Anne her one true friend, and feels heartsick that her exile from court means she sees the Shahrizai girl very infrequently.
Les Autres
Laurent du LacNoir - Formerly Lucrèce's suitor, Laurent was hailed as a hero on his return from Camlach and the d'Angeline army's successful battle against the Hazaran. Anne used to tease her for the soft spot she had for him, and there had been plans for the war general to travel home to Kusheth with her to meet her father and perhaps even arrange an engagement. All this never came to pass, for when Lucrèce tried to seek out Laurent's help the night before Dominik stole her away from the city, the general mistook her and thought she was leaving him for another suitor. The two have not seen each other since that night.
