L'Agnace

L'Agnace is a grape-rich territory to the north of Siovale, founded by Anael. House Courcel keeps estates and hunting lodges in this province, and the City of Elua is within its bounds. L'Agnacites have a weakness for gambling. They are also noted for their extremely proficient archers.

Geography

This important province was founded by the Companion Anael. Geographically it lies north of Siovale, in roughly the middle of the country. The terrain is largely forested, with occasional lakes and rivers as well as considerable farmland. Cutting through the center of L'Agnace and flowing to the sea by way of Marsikillos is the Avaline river, a great thoroughfare of strategy and trade.

Politics

The great City of Elua is situated in this province. Traditionally, House Courcel ruled from this province, and as such there was no separate ruler of the duchy itself. With the Courcel line all but vanished and the de Morhban's of Kusheth sitting the throne, L'Agnace is no longer the sole seat of royal power. There are some that say this has led to some tension between the citizens of the province and the droves of Kushelines who now flock to the City of Elua to be close to the seat of power.

There has been discussion in the past of appointing a Steward for the province, or even of the new situation being worthy enough to see L'Agnace become a true duchy. But years have passed since the de Morhban family took the throne, and as of yet, nothing has changed.
