Isabelle is the Dowayne of House Alyssum, having been so for the last eight years.
Isabelle Aubigne was born Isabelle Poitou, the daughter of a humble pair of tailors in the province of Siovale. Her parents doted on each other very deeply, and saved a good deal of affection for their young daughter as well. As Isabelle was growing up, her mother’s kind, reserved nature had great effect on her. As did her religious devotion though it was to Shemhazai that the Poitou’s paid the bulk of their homage. The impressionable girl did not forget occasional forays into the larger cities and the awe she would feel upon looking at the Priestesses of Naamah. They held such reverent beauty, she longed to follow in that path when she too became a woman. Fate held a different path for young Isabelle however. When she came of age, left her family, and traveled to the city of Elua, she witnessed worship of Naamah in a far different form. Her shyness and modesty made her seem quite the natural for service to Alyssum House, and so she was bid at sixteen years of age.
It was in service there that she met Marcel Aubigne, a soldier from the same province as she, and fell deeply in love. With permission, Isabelle left the House to marry him. It was not more than five years later that he became one of the many casualties of the D’Angeline Army’s skirmishes with Skaldia, and Isabelle was left with no husband, and a young daughter to care for. She returned to House Alyssum, offering herself in devoted service in return for
the shelter of both.
Isabelle leads her House with devotion, though of all things she is most devoted to Fantine. Service to Naamah however, leaves her with the chance to be of use to the world around her, and to find a means by which her soft shyness can be honored as something more. She takes both herself and the House Canon seriously, hoping to guide patrons when they visit to finding the secret desires in hidden shames.
