Gentian's courtesans seek visions and interpret dreams, and some go on to become priests of Elua. When one needs answers that simple research and contemplation cannot suss out, one comes to Gentian House, where the dreamers reside. They are the listening ear, the soothing word, and sometimes the dreaming which brings clarity, portents, or answers to their patrons. They are those who preach Naamah's word and show the true paths to those who seek them.

Training

The training of adepts of Gentian House differs in several ways from that of the other houses on Mont Nuit. Adepts are chosen either for extreme purity of spirit and understanding of Naamah's will, and those rarer ones who have the gift or prophesy, dreaming, or religious visions. In preparation for their debut and ongoing service to patrons, adepts of the house of Mystic Purity and Spirit are trained to hone the following skill sets:

  • The art of true listening to the worries, cares, dreams, and hopes of patrons.
  • The art of the dreaming. In this they bring a patron to a fully relaxed state with their focus on the issue that troubles them, or the question they wish answered and then lets them sleep so their unconscious can come to clarity.
  • The art of advisement. They are taught to take what they hear, understand it, and offer clarity from a neutral perspective on matters.
  • The art of the question. They are taught to take what they hear, and lead their patron to their own answers by asking questions to prompt deeper thought and understanding on matters.

When an adept in the Night Court reaches the age of sixteen, and has completed the training process of their house, they are eligible for debut. Often, these debuts take the form of a public auction, in which potential patrons compete via bid to win an adept's first assignation and virginity.

Debuts

Gentian debuts are often quiet affairs, with few bidders, as their patrons are typically those who have a current need for clarity or vision. Often auctions are done en masque to preserve the identity of the bidders so enemies are not made aware of someone who might be struggling.

History and Current Events

  • 22nd of Decembre, 1185: Gentian attends dressed as the Hellenic Muses.
  • 2nd of Aout, 1185: the former Dowayne of Gentian passed away after a lengthy illness. The Second of the House, Marguerite no Gentian, who had been such for 4 years and had served in the House for 15 years prior to that appointment, was elevated to Dowayne.
