Background

Childhood

Ariadnh was born the tenth of thirteen children to the Archon of Phaistos, on her homeland of Kriti. Her line is descendent of the House of Minos, an ancient family line that has stretched well over hundreds of years. Because of it, her linage is not as apparent as it had once been with those in her past family.

Ariadnh was ever an inquisitive child, asking questions, seeking knowledge on places far from Kriti. One of her favorite games included play-acting. She would always be an infamous character of history; Waldimere Sleig, Kazan the Pirate, even the famous Phedre who crossed once to Kriti. Such games would be the basis for her love of exploration later in life.

Ariadnh grew up within and around the city of Phaistos. To this day, the Kore of Temenos and the Archon bear close, if not family ties to one another on the island of Kriti, and, each child of the Archon, during their youth, stay with the Kore for some time. It is both to educate them on their history- political, economic- and, of course, to learn what their linage gives them. The ability to blood-cleanse a man of his sins.

As she grew, Ariadnh came to find a love in travel. She would follow short distances aboard ship to the Hellas proper with her father, and later, to Illryia, Carthage, Caerdicca, and even Meneket. Even at a young age, Ariadnh’s skill was seen; quick with both thought and languages, she rose in her fathers eye, quickly appointed to a board of delegates- for Kriti, unlike most, care not for gender in their selected roles- and found herself foremost on one to Terre D’Ange.

Description & Personality

Ariadnh has, since her birth, been an intelligent girl. Growing up she was continually first in her teachings, finding a special interest in other cultures and languages. Because of such an interest, she is employed often at her fathers side as a translator for various visiting delegates.

Growing up in a country that puts an emphasis on tradition, she is religious, though ever open to new ways of life. She will often be found laughing, and employing people in a round of similar laughter. Ariadnh is an usually joyously natured woman, often pausing to think things through before jumping to conclusions. However, as she is but seventeen, Ariadnh is still prone to fits of anger or sorrow, and can be, at times, immature.

It is often hard to read her thoughts, though it would usually be pleasant ones- Ariadnh is not one to judge, nor categorize another before first hearing them out. However, it also takes her a while to trust another person, being continually suspicious for a good amount of time before knowing someone.

Ariadnh is often, due to her child-like joy and laughing demeanor, underestimated in her skills. She is an Envoy for Kriti, and, a few have seen the strong diplomat that lays beneath her joy.

The House of Asterius

For many years the house of Asterius has ruled as Archon upon the land of Kriti. They are an ancient line that descend from the famous House of Minos- those who have the ability to clense blood guilt from a man’s soul. Ariadnh is the tenth daughter of Timanthes Asterius, Archon of Phaistos and brother to the Kore of Temenos, Iole Asterius. Ariadnh’s line has been untouched by recent foreigners in the land; but, with times that is changing. Her second brother, Crete, has already been married to a woman of Meneket, in an effort to secure ties of trade there.

Ariadnh was ever her father’s favorite, sharing with him a love of adventure and greeting the new, uncharted world. Her mother, on the other hand, sits more on traditional Kritian ways- and, Ariadnh has caught them on more than one occasion, arguing about Kriti’s future.

In total Ariadnh has fifteen siblings- a few of which were borne outside of her own mother’s womb. Her eldest sister, Althia, has already began an apprenticeship alongside the Kore. A few have been married off for political, or economic gains, and, her eldest brother and older sister both sit upon the Archon’s board of officials, helping to plan the future of Kriti.

Ariadnh has been betrothed to a major merchant family of Illyria, to stabilize commitment to a trade agreement made previously.

Close Companions

These are people whom Ariadnh has met, and, is beginning to trust very well.

Baroness Briar D'Rosiers Aria greatly admires and trusts this woman. She was one of the first to offer the Princess a kind word, and since then, the two have grown closer- and Briar is one of the few people in Terre D'Ange whom Ariadnh would turn to in a crisis. Since her recent.. adventures, Aria has grown quite close to Briar, trusting her wholly and completely.

Gabrielle Achilles nó Heliotrope The second of Heliotrope has proven a good comrade to Ariadnh. She is always kind, and always helpful- and it seems, ready to accept the Princesses odd quirks. Aria admires Gabrielle greatly, and has, perhaps, a hint of a child-hood crush on the woman.

Tsun "Jon" Xzu While she's only met Tsun twice, Aria feels a strong connection to the man. They are both outsiders in Terre D'Ange, and Aria feels close to the man, despite their few conversations. They share an understanding that runs deeper then some might guess.

Simon de Mereliot-- Ariadnh has been seen around the Marquis more than a few times. She is quite fond of him, and his pet, Spyro. There have been rumors about the pair, but Aria admits to nothing; she simply enjoys his company very much, and is beginning to trust the man well.

Acquaintances

People whom Ariadnh knows, but is still, perhaps unsure about, or whom she doesn't know very well.

Doliana Afrelius-- Ariadnh has lost her respect for this woman, and rather dislikes and fears the woman.

Felicie Durest-- A priestess Aria met the night of Lucien's debut. She found the woman kind and welcoming, but knows little about her.

Aristide de Rousseau-- Kushiel's handmaiden and Aria got off to a rocky start, but the Princess has been trying to fix that since. Aria doesn't know much about the woman.

Pascal nó Balm-- The kind balm adept whom she met on a visit there. He gave a wonderful foot massage, and was quite beautiful.

Lucien nó Jasmine-- Aria loves the boy Lucien very much. She finds him beautiful and a joy to be around. And, while she enjoyed his debut very much, Aria wont be able to look.. rightly at the boy for some time, without picturing him that night.

Genevieve nó Mandrake-- While Aria doesn't share the Mandrake's desires, she admires the woman all the same. She finds it truly fascinating how she is beautiful and strong, without being overly like the rest of the 'perfect' courtesans on Mont Nuit.

Evangeline nó Balm-- Aria enjoys Evangeline's company very much, and finds her both a very intelligent and worthwhile woman to know.

Maximus Corvinus-- On her few meetings with the Knight, Aria has been both scared, embarrassed, and amused. She doesn't know quite what to make of him, except that he is both a man of skill and one she enjoys to converse with.

Hermes de Trevalion-- Aria respects the man, for his knowledge on Kriti and other cultures but.. she is unsure what to make of him, considering he has made her cry.

Néomie de Fontaine-- This older woman was the first to help Aria blend in, by helping her to cover her chest. Aria enjoys the woman's company, seeing her as something like a mother.

Donatien Shahrizai-- Aria doesn't know much about this man, other than he is a grand Duc, and that she has acted a fool about him.

Anne Shahrizai-- Ariadnh has nothing negative to say about Anne, but she is quite confused about her.. occupation.

Athenais de Morhban-- The Princess has met the Queen only once, but she rather liked her. She admires her power over her country, and hopes to speak with her again.
