Background

Early Life

Born of two middle-class D'Angelines, Etienne and Eloise, two people Aglaé cannot remember even a snippet of memory. Some may say that it is sad that she remembers not her parents, but one cannot miss that which they cannot remember. Under the cover of night, two hooded figures approached the former Dowayne of Heliotrope House. That night, seventeen years ago, she was sold to Heliotrope House. The question that has never been answered is, are the names Etienne and Eloise a fallacy? Was she kidnapped by bandits. Why did the Dowayne of Heliotrope buy the young girl, even potentially illegally so?

The story this Dowayne told to her was her sister took ill, and to pay for the medical costs the babe Aglaé was taken in by the House of thou and no other. Not the favored, it is further said it was an easy decision to try to save the life of a sister the young Aglaé may never know. It is only feelings, now that Aglae remembers. Knowing not who her parents were truly. Where she comes from truly, or where she is going. In Aglaé's mind, she was not loved enough to stay. She was loved only enough to pay for the medical costs of one who was... Her past is rarely spoken about from her lip, it is a source of shame and some sadness. But is any of this true? Are her parents looking for the girl, fearing that she is dead?

It is a story she herself cannot verify for she has no memory of such at all. Perhaps she was a kidnapped child sold into the Houses for the money it would bring. Once the questions on the past begins, they do not seem to stop. Aglaé does not think of it overmuch. She is content. No matter what, her family is Mont Nuit.

Fostering

Aglaé
Aglaé

Heliotrope. To be loved by the ones would 'love thou and no other.' It was here that Aglaé grew up. Amongst the flowers and budding blooms of Heliotrope, but never did she feel part of them. True to their canon, they loved her dearly and she loved them at least in her own way. They were as open as the pages of a book, Aglaé became more and more hidden - more mysterious. It became apparent that the mystery that she so naturally cultivated like a hidden flower, would become her coin. But it was equally apparent that she would not be one of them.

Aglaé looks back upon her Fostering and the studies she did in private well and with happiness. But she conducted them apart rather than together with the rest of the boys and girls of Heliotrope. They would ask of her what she was studying and Aglaé would simply dip her head. Her hair sliding down like a veil, modestly covering a blush that formed like two pink flowers in spring profusion.

The decision at her thirteenth year came, and with a heavy heart they negotiated a change to dedicate herself and to be sent to the House she was meant to be part of. She was not meant for Heliotrope and all knew. Her love was not as open to bask for one and without care for what others thought. Aglaé's love was hidden, under a shy and private veil. It was decided, by the Dowayne that she would be brought to "Alyssum." For they, would be able to teach her to what Aglaé was born to do.

It was with heavy hearts, that Heliotrope bid her farewell to Aglaé. There was little doubt where she would go, the Adepts of the house cheerfully spoke to one another and to Aglaé herself that she might be able to have gone to any house. With Cheerful goodbyes, she left to her new house of the Court of Night Blooming Flowers.

Her arrival to House Alyssum was quiet and she knew that she was home. That she found many just like her. It warmed her heart to become friends with the other boys and girls her age; as quiet and modest as she. Some with the veil and some without realizing that those with were uninitiated to their service. She donned her veil with herself only removing it when it was proper and she was alone. Guarding herself and her emotions well her voice almost never yells, the near-whisper tantalizes the ear offered shyly with a sense of apology and a bit like a gift.

Aglaé took to the studies of the house with reckless abandon. Well, as much abandon as one can, when one studies alone and almost in secret. Blushing from any and all insinuations from what she was studying to how she was coming along. She soon attached herself to a style of painting that seems to put more emphasis of line with the absences of color. Never is the line sharp or bold, but it almost seems light. Still lives and nature her favorite. It is interesting with a soft modest style. It is not flashy, and yet it is mysterious for much can be discerned from the lines. It is much like her.

Her beauty dreamlike, her modesty paramount. She awaited the time of her debut. The desire seen in potential patrons was never seen by Aglaé, and it is of a surety that she would blush profusely and apologize for such.

Upon a Feather on the Wind

Spoken in hushed whisper, Aglaé's debut has come and gone. The only indication being that her veil has been taken from her. Her face, seen without obfuscation by the winner of her virgin-price. None know who it was who did. And Aglaé shall not tell. She will simply apologize and blush, though none have discerned who.

Of course, those who attended the debut may look upon one another and wonder. But, who would speak of being at an Alyssum Debut?

Description

Aglaé
Aglaé

To understand her beauty, one must understand her movement. Silence is of a priority. One must never hear an Alyssum grow upon the ground. But moving in silence creates a grace all of it's own. The body has understood not just the proper line of serving, but the proper line to stand, to move to glide across the beautifully understated floor like so much a feather. It is like water - like a gentle breeze. It as if she has walked and continues to walk as if in a dream.

Long almost-blond brown hair, seems to float behind her slightly. The Ends coming to mid back, but conspiring to end in a soft wave a soft curl. Heavy lids cover light sea - green eyes. Shining blue in some light. And a soft lip. When she smiles it is a mysterious smile. A secret smile. Her voice like a whisper, but pleasing to the ear.

Long graceful limbs, ending in slender fingers find their line almost as if breathing. And although, her modest has her cover most of her body, it is the merest hint of the way she holds herself that all together, gives her an otherworldly beauty. A beauty she seems shy to show, or even ashamed to show.

Example Gown

Personality

She exhibits the canon of Alyssum well. Quiet and demure. She is quick to give deference and to melt into the background. Often, she is seen gazing into the land through the high windows of the House. A dream like quality seems to veil her as she does.

She though, is quick to smile - at least a touch with those she knows. With those Aglaé has yet to meet, she waits. Too shy to approach the others to introduce herself. Offering food and drink with a silent and invisible approach. Though for those who gaze at her while doing so, her demeanor seems apologetic to be in their presence.
